New Vinyl

Postby The Swamp Fox » Mon Mar 23, 2020 10:20 pm

I know this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I received the 2020 Friday Music release of From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis , Tennessee . I have a few other of Friday's Elvis releases and know that there are mixed feelings on these, but the presentation is nice and it's a good distraction from everything going on in the world at the moment.

Oh man, that's nice... but I wish you hadn't done that though. 8-)
My 45 of 'HURT' is different to that though.

I have a promo for the tan label, but not the actual tan release... maybe it's something I should hunt down.

I need to dig out the old 45s that belonged to him that my mom passed on to me after his passing. My kids look at vinyl as if it's a foreign object. ..lol!

I only have one...an RSD release from a few years ago. I showed my son and expained to him why I couldn't play it because my turntable doesn't have 78 rpm....he looked bewildered.

He was probably thinking "What's a turntable ?"

I would have ordered a MINT original vintage vinyl from 1976 instead of a digital source reissue from later years.
Many copies on Ebay and Discogs.
Got mine a few years ago and sound quality is amazing.

I have an old 70s copy that is far from mint. This was just an impulse buy and something to enjoy while we're limited on things to do and places to go.

Good engineers have produced some great remasters at Friday but I've often found mastering problems on their Elvis stuff. There's always distortion in one place.

I'm willing to grant that the vinyl albums in those pretty colours look better than the drab black ones.

But does the audio sound any better ?
