5,000 Elvis titles? Your wife might be right.Memphis-bell31 wrote:Hi All I was just wondering how do you store cds? Jamie, I think you should store them in whatever way is easiest for you.

Are you very rich, broke, or do you have a wealthy benefactor?
Your wife is right. That isn't meant as an insult, but it is obsessive and a problem I think many of us suffer from. I also used to buy everything years ago, Including books, magazines, LPs, DVDs. I never bought memorabilia though. However, I recognised the problem and I broke the habit.
Anyway, I store mine on a couple of bookshelves. Regular sized CDs on one and larger FTD and other box sets etc on another. They are upstairs in the spare room. CDs by other artists are downstairs in a couple of CD racks. I gave away over 350 CDs by other artists a couple of years ago to an old folks home (in preparation for when I go in there!!!) I have a whole bunch of Elvis CDs in a box to get rid of. There is no evidence in my house downstairs that I'm an Elvis fan.

Music collecting was a hobby I started when I was ten years old in 1976. I sought these titles because I wanted to hear great music that wasn't always played on radio. I am into my favorites of the rock era. Anyway, Elvis gets displayed in our home but so do other rock giants. Rock n roll was always a passion of mine. If my wife was really disturbed about my rock music collection, she would not have married me. Of course my memorabilia consists of selected Elvis items such as his framed autograph. I am not buying nearly as many collectibles as as once did because my priorities have changed. I've always been selective. You would not see plastic Elvis junk on the walls, only rare items. As for the Elvis music, why not hear the great performances?
Life is short.
5000 Elvis CD's that grew to that staggering number because of Elvis bootlegs, many were given to me from other Elvis fans during the past 25 years. My wife knows that I do not foolishly spend money. If I could not afford it, I would not have indulged. It is really that simple.

Thanks Bob TCB. I just don't know when you'd find time to listen to your music. I struggle to listen to even 30 minutes of music a day, and I'm on my own and retired. I do have family and social commitments, but even without them, I couldn't find the time. Yes, life is short, which is why I stopped automatically buying everything I was buying. Money was being spent on things I really didn't need and more importantly, didn't want.
