Paradise Hawaiian Style reel to reel film

Edit: fake. See Tony's post below.

From the auction site: Elvis Presley "Paradise Hawaiian Style" Reel to Reel Film W/DVD - This lot will come with the reel to reel cuts of Elvis Presley's "Paradise Hawaiian Style". We feel that this may be a director's cut, as we are unsure of it's origin. We have had the reel professionally transferred to DVD, which will be provided to the winning bidder as a courtesy, along with the (4) original reels.

This is nothing but a home movie copy that was avaialble to buy in the late 60's thru the 1970's prior to the introduction of home video.
This is nothing special at all, anyone could buy it like this back then.
Another give away of it not being anything special is that it's not even a 35mm reel or film print as the cinema prints would have been .
It also has a magnetic soundtrack, you can see the oxide stip on the edge where as an original 35mm movie print would have an optical soundtrack.
Directors cut?
Never in a million years!

No shame on you at all, you're probably just not familiar with this old type of media.
For sure the shame is on the auction house who fail to show due diligence, it's not difficult for them to check things like this out properly, especially as they're in LA not far from Hollywood, the home of movies!
It's just Super 8mm with magnetic sound.
A directors cut would be proffesional 35mm optical.

Paradise Hawaiian Style UK quad poster

Paradise, Hawaiian Style was released by Paramount Pictures in June 1966, reaching number 40 on the Variety box office charts and achieving over $2.5 million at the box office. Directed by Michael D. Moore, who was an assistant director on six previous Elvis films, Paradise, Hawaiian Style was Elvis’ 21st movie and was filmed on location on the picturesque island, resulting in breathtaking footage and stunning visuals.

image.jpeg

The colorful British artwork depicts Elvis surrounded by beauties in the forefront of an island and blue waters. Each of the letters in the movie title uses a different color to express the playfulness of the film, and the aqua blue and dark blue background colors create a strong impression, much different from its American counterpart. This British quad poster measures 30 by 40 inches (76.2 x 101.6 cm).

Paradise Hawaiian Style Belgian poster

image.jpeg

This Belgian poster promoted Elvis Presley’s 1966 film Paradise, Hawaiian Style, his second to be set in the islands. The offered poster utilizes an illustration found on several other posters from around the globe for the film, but it is executed with a tremendous amount of detail and an intense amount of saturated color. The result is an impressive example of an Elvis poster from the European market. Importantly for collectors, the phrase “Impr. J. Lichtert & Fils - Bruxelles 7” appears printed on the lower right of the bottom border—later Belgian reprints often have these phrases printed in English. The poster measures 22 by 14 inches (55.88 x 35.56 cm).

1966 Paradise, Hawaiian Style - Press and Advertising Ephemera Collection with Pressbook, Herald, Original Artwork, Promotional Photos and Lobby Card

The marketing machine was at full throttle for this film, and the offered collection is a prime example of the various marketing methods employed. Included is a pressbook that contains recommendations for articles, columns, advertising and contests, measuring approximately 15 by 12 inches (38.1 by 30.48 cm); a herald for the movie to generate interest and excitement, measuring approximately 11 by 8 1/2 inches (27.94 x 21.59 cm); rare camera-ready advertising art and negatives; six black-and-white movie stills; and one full-color lobby card. Moviegoers were sure to be excited by the buzz generated from these marketing campaigns, with headlines like “Girls! Fun! Song! Bouncing to that Elvis Beat,” “Most Elaborate, Captivating and Eye-Filling,” and “Seldom has the panorama and terrain of Hawaii been utilized to such lush advantage... It’s a natural for Presley fans.”
