The information comes from the "originals" site. Although I met 3 of The Beatles in 1969 I am no fan who knows all their recordings. Sometimes sites and books do not have the correct information. It states The Beatles recorded the song in 1965 and also had some lines to start their song "Run for your life".

First part is incorrect, second part is correct.

The Beatles DID fool around with the song during the 1969 Get Back / Let It Be sessions though and performed it as The Quarrymen circa 1957.
Please tell us more about meeting 3 Beatles in 1969!

In October 1969 I was on holidays in London. While at Saville Row, where Apple headquarters was, someone walked out the door and I asked him if it would be ok to meet Mary Hopkin for an interview for the Dutch magazine I worked for and showed my press card*. Later it appeared to be Derek Taylor.
He told me to come by the next day and ask for Mavis Smith, the secretary, who could arrange a meeting. So I did and was sent upstairs. Nice to see all those gold records on the walls of the stairs. Then I entered a large room where "Beatles at Abbey Road" was playing. Did not know that at that time.
Anyway, the secretary went to another room because of all the noise and I got a nice cup of tea. After a while George Harrison waved at me to come to him. He was sitting there with Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney. The day before I had seen John & Yoko coming out of their Rolls Royce.
George asked me if I was there for them, The Beatles, and I said I was there for Mary Hopkin. He then asked if I liked the music. I said yes and he told me it was their new LP which would be out in a week's time. Then the secretary walked in, told me she could not reach Mary Hopkin on the phone but if I cold come by the next day and I was escorted out. Adding another great memory to my life.

* The press card I bought from a guy of whom I got the address and information from a guy I knew. Had a lot of fun with that card! These days such a card, even when officially issued, is of no use as even third rate amateur bands require credentials. ;-)

Incidentally, I worked in a shoe shop in Berkshire at that time and I had the pleasure of serving Mary Hopkin when she came in to buy some shoes. She really was very pretty.

I almost had a triple heart attack when I read that.
But fascinating story, Luuk! You passed on interviewing the most important band in the history of popular music. Wow.

Cool story John! You should have asked her out!
She was indeed pretty.

Well, I realised that if I'd say I'd be there for The Beatles, I'd be kicked out immediately and not in a friendly way.
But it was great meeting them.
I had met Brian Epstein years earlier when he was in Amsterdam accompanying Cilla Black at the Grand Gala Du Disque. Must have been 1965 or 1966.
I was carrying my camera and took several pictures of her but every time the flashbulb did not work. Then I met another artist, took a picture without a problem, saw Cilla again, who again posed and again the flashbulb did not work, this happened 3 or 4 times so I gave up taking her picture.
Years later one of our national TV stars copied her show and went to meet her to sign contracts. He told an interviewer that it was very weird because every time someone tried to take a photo of her, the flashbulb did not work.
Met, talked with and photographed many artists. My avatar is me with Dutch singer Willeke Alberti last month, after she signed my copy of her book. I also have a photo of her and me 51 years ago.
Most proud I am of my picture with Lynn Anderson and one with Sue moreno, which I took myself by self-exposer during a photoshot I did of her at my home. And I can guarantee you every man turns his head when she passes by! You can see her on www.suemoreno.com where you also can order her (signed if you wish) CD's.

Hahahaha welcome back, buddy!

Luuk, thank you for sharing your stories.

You should have asked the Beatles to post for some pics or sign autographs!

I've never been to Graceland nor will I ever go there.I don't care for things like that. I'm only in it for the music.
I've met quite a few artists, either as a photographer or for hospital radio.
Some singers are Elvisfans too. At least two of them visited my home, one being Henk van Broekhoven (issuing records under a series of different names but gaining fame as John Spencer with Dutch translations of rock and roll songs), the other being Sue Moreno, whom I did a photoshoot with.
I've also taken photos (while sitting behind them on stage) of The Everly Brothers, which later they both signed.
By the way, I started photogaphy when I was a kid as my father was a keen photographer. When I was a teen, one of the guys in the street where I lived at the time was in the band Freddy Scott & The Condors. He asked if I could take pictures of the band, which I did.
I also took, and still take, photos of lots of pretty girls.
