Tax the wealthy, pensioners or not.

They need then to make this means tested. There are many wealthy pensioners who don't need the heating allowance, many don't even take it, or give it to charity, or their children, or use it to pay for holidays.

By limiting payment of the Winter Fuel Allowance to only those in receipt of benefits,
it's become a broad-brush kind of 'means testing by the back-door'.

Needs adjusting because many facing hard times are not on benefits.

Why are you all saying 'tax this, tax that" while it should be "Stop spending so much!"?
Why should the Government dictate how they are going to spend our hard earned money by taxing us to death?
First you pay income tax, then you pay local tax, then you pay VAT over anything you purchase, including gas & electric, then you pay tax over the money you did not spend yet, then when you die your offspring is charged with inheritance tax.

The taxes collected by the government are to pay for the medical, prison, police, fire brigade, welfare services etc. which the taxpayers rely on.

From the UK Newspaper 'i' - 8th August 2024:

The 'i' Newspaper -- 8th August 2024 - 001.jpg

Being a 15-year-old lad back then, & wanting to encourage young newcomers, I bought this single !

Never bought another one by this performer...

On a technical note - not sure why the 'i' published this 9th anniversary item on the 8th !

So is it all your fault Colin? If Move It had sold one less copy that might have been curtains for his career. :D

On hearing 'Move It' it seemed as if we might be getting a UK rock 'n' roll performer.

His TV appearances on 'Oh Boy' showed him to be just another Elvis-wannabee.

My purchase of the single didn't affect the chart position one iota...

In interviews he admitted he started as an Elvis wannabee but dropped it when his career took off.

An example of how insincere the performer was.

An example of how insincere the performer was.

Not at all.

He was heavily influenced by Elvis, as many have been, which helped him find his own style.

I've seen him live on stage & he thought he was Elvis...

Me too, and I've met him, and he knew he was Cliff Richard.

Yup, he was terrible when I saw him, but he didn't think he was Elvis.
