Blurry Songs

Postby luckyjaxon » Mon Dec 28, 2015 2:06 am

There are a bunch of songs that are recorded by Elvis, that weren't professionally recorded. In some cases, they are hard to hear and understand, in other cases, they come across more clearly. In any case, if you could choose any of these songs to be recorded professionally, which ones would they be? There are 3 that I would love to have. One of them is Aprin Strings. Does anyone have a fav or two that they'd choose?

I'd also like to have heard a proper recording of Apron Strings, also Don't Forbid Me and You Belong To My Heart. It would have been nice to have proper recordings of some of the songs performed live such as I Walk The line and turn Around Look At Me.

Ahhhhya, Dont forbid me. That would have been a good professionally recorded song to hear from Elvis. I had 3 songs in mind immediately, and one of them is indeed a live song from stage. You Can Have Her. Id loved to hear Elvis give that one the studio treatment.

Well, I guess this topic didn't generate a big interest. lol. Okay, Ill just say that I would choose Apron Strings, You Can Have Her, and Number 8, as the 3 Id choose to have Elvis do in a recording studio. I think he could nail all three. just sayin

Not quite what you meant, but I'd like to have had proper studio cuts of some stuff he only did live, like:

I Just Can't Help Believing

An American Trilogy

You've Lost That Loving Feeling

See See Rider

My Babe

Proud Mary

Why those songs Colin? We can already hear and understand them great. What do you suppose would come out of the studio that could add anything to those already awesome tunes?

Well, I think songs sound better when cut within the disciplines of a recording studio.

Any weaknesses can be tweaked, mixed out or redone.

There are very few Elvis songs that sound better 'live' than their studio counterparts...

Patch it up live has much more power than the studio version.
The old songs sung live in the1968 TV special sound much better than their studio version.
My way studio version does not sound half as good as the live version.
I guess different people, different tastes.

Maybe not so different, Luuk !

I never said all the studio cuts were superior to the live ones !

Can't agree about the 1968 TV Special, though..................... a flute on Don't Be Cruel ?

First, I want to say that I love the 68 show from beginning to end, including the cool outtakes. In fact, THAT is my FAVORITE ELVIS. So, if any new versions of the old songs can be compared to the original releases, they are probably from this show. To me, the two songs that really stand out as improvements from 68 are Trouble and Where could I go but to the lord.

Well, you've kinda supported my case there, luckyjaxon !

He was miming to studio cuts on those two numbers !

Ya, I suppose. I really wasn't trying to imply that the old versions couldn't be made better. I guess some could. But the songs that I was speaking of were the ones that are hard to hear because of the recording device used to record them, or because Elvis voice is too far away.
and Personally, I like the studio version of Patch it up more than I like the stage version.
