Graceland closed to the public for the first time since 1982, the world is really stopping on its tracks now...

Well, to cheer things up a little bit, this is another one that I listen to when I feel down!

The contrast between a community oriented culture where ‘WE’ comes first and a culture of individual rights where ‘I’ comes first is the difference in how the battle against this pandemic is won or lost!

This is the difference between Taiwan - population 24M, 235 cases, 2 deaths and NYC - population 19.5M, 26,348 cases, 271 deaths!

This subject is too serious for humour & jokes.

Those posting them should hang their heads in shame.

Couldn't resist this one, though:

Went to my NatWest bank this morning.

A notice on the door warned me not to enter & someone would come out to me.

A bank employee opened the door a few inches & asked what I wanted.

When I told him I was after cash, he told me to use the ATM round the corner.

I said that I preferred my cash in fivers & he said he couldn't help me further.

Went on to Tescos & to do some essential food shopping.

After I had just passed the bank on the way home he called out after me [he must have sought advice from his supervisor in the meantime].

On my return, he explained that, if I drew my cash from the machine, I could pass it to him & he'd exchange it for fivers !

What a palaver !

If I had the virus, I'd have passed it on with the notes & if the fivers had it, they'd have passed it on to me !

Might as well have let me enter in the first place...

I washed my hands when I got home.

Lots of Gravesend shops, although they will accept cash, have notices saying that the preferred payment method is by card !

In Tescos, they are sanitizing the baskets before use each time & have a hand sanitizing facility available for customers.

The whole floor is marked out with tape in a grid fashion, with one customer at a time allowed in each square.

I assume you were wearing a mask.
So even bank robbers can't enter these days a bank because of the virus security.

Glad your government is taking it seriously, Matt !

Here there is some confusion about self-isolation.

If the 'vulnerable' which includes the over 70s, must self-isolate & not go out, why are the supermarkets opening an hour early just for 'the elderly' ?

The answer is that, during self-isolation, we can go out for essential shopping, & they also advise a walk [or run] every day for health reasons.

The ones not allowed out at all are those showing the symptoms of the virus !

They must stay indoors for a week, & then phone 111.

In Vienna/Austria we are 'vulnerable' ...we can go to work (by Train, Bus, Subway) if it is only necessary, to buy medicals or food NO PROBLEM, most of all are on HomeOffice-Work...but it is very difficult. Our Government works really hard for us...all the best, Matt...and i'm very proud to live in this wonderful lovely and proud country! But...we don't have personal contact with elders<, 2 people are not allowed except 1,5 meters on the street. I miss my parents (84 Mama, 89 Dad) deeply, but so what... :(

With 60,000 infected and nearly 4,900 deaths, the situation in Spain, where I live, is getting worse and worse every day!

We seem to be living in a surreal horror movie, only it’s painfully real.

Take care of yourself wherever in the world you are, please follow the authorities recommendations and wash your hands as many times as you can.

Elvis music is a big help to me in these so uncertain times.
