I've recently 'signed up' to an atheist blog.

Once a new member is accepted, they are automatically assigned an 'icon' as an avatar which appears alongside their posts.

Mine turned out to be shaped like a little swastika !

Somehow I doubt that.

It seems the 'system' creates & allots these avatars in a random fashion.

The site admin don't know me from Adam anyway...

I see that a Japanese TV channel is to broadcast 2001 - A Space Odyssey followed by My Fair Lady in 8K !

Few TVs will be able to display them in their full glory !

Most of us haven't got 4K yet !

I didn't even bought a blue ray player so far.
And I don't want a HD TV set so far either.
I am not convinced with the new technology.
The quality jump from vhs to DVD was huge.
The rest.....and the new TV sets.....I am just not convinced.

Like I said [in the bit of my post you omitted] - 8K marks the end-of-the-line as far as quality improvement goes.

When we've got TVs, players, recorders, discs, streams, downloads, YouTube & broadcasts in 8K there won't be anywhere else to go !

Might be a wise move to wait for it !

I mainly watch "TV" through Free TV on the internet, as there is nothing broadcast on Australian TV, ever, to my liking, I rarely bother to look.

Who wants to watch people eating insects, being made a fool of, or, competing with each other and being nasty? Seriously. Then, fake news, politicians, etc., nahhhh. I am not into watching sport, either, big yawn.

I am watching a new series, "Manifest" on Free TV at the moment, and really enjoying it.

Plus, there are movie sites, too, Dailymotion is very good (plus there are other sites, too, Go Movies, 123 Movies).

One just has to be careful of the deceptive popups and close them down really quickly (along with having good computer protection - ha!)

Take away the white background & the 'Swastika' shape disappears completely !

But, if you stare at it for long enough, it sometimes comes back !

I'm not sure I understand some 'modern' things.

Take this, for example.

Ordered a legal reference book from Amazon with useful contacts, phone numbers etc.

Paid around £8 for it [including postage].

When received, it reads 'For US Citizens' [something the description didn't mention].

Useless for my needs.

Opened the Amazon UK site, looked up my order & it states that it's been delivered, but I have until 5th April to return it if not satisfied.

Clicked on the appropriate bit & it asked why I wanted to return it & I explained.

On hitting 'continue' it stated that it was processing the refund of my £8 but 'there was no need to return the item' !

What's that all about ?

I've heard of this before. Not worth their while. Now, do you need a new TV? Give that a try.

Yesterday [Friday] I had to get a locksmith in because of lost keys.

Rang the insurance company & asked if I was covered for this.

The young lady looked up my policy & informed me she was very sorry but, although they did have cover for this, it wasn't included on my policy.

I informed her that I had the policy in front of me & read out a bit that said 'Replacement locks & keys - maximum claim £1,000'.

She went away for a bit & when she returned, she asked 'How much was it ?'

I told her it was £304.80.

She said she'd make a payment to my bank account of that amount [less the £100 excess].

The money was there on Saturday morning !

No proof, no documentation, no dragging things out for weeks !

Apart from initially denying that I was covered, this was the best & most speedy treatment I've ever had from an insurance company !

(I have proof and a replacement quote, plus I advised the insurance company, it had been raining, and, the funny "proof" is, I took photos of the deer's footprints, I laugh as I type this).

Yes, I've been with them for some time.

I think maybe she was embarrassed because I called her out, when she wasn't expecting me to be familiar with the policy, & her speedy settlement of the claim was to sort of 'make up' for her error.
