I'm afraid I haven't got a clue, then.

It's not the composer. The first two were written by Robbins, the other two by Melvin Endsley.

Well done, Mister Moon, for getting the Marty Robbins connection !

The other thing I had in mind was that they were all originals by Marty
but the hit versions were 'pinched' by other big stars of the day:

♫ "You Don't Owe Me a Thing" ♫ - Johnnie Ray

♫ "You Gave Me a Mountain" ♪ - Frankie Laine

♪ "Singing the Blues" ♫ - Guy Mitchell [& Tommy Steele in the UK]

♪ "Knee Deep in the Blues" ♫ - Guy Mitchell [& Tommy Steele in the UK]

A sad state of affairs which was commonplace in the 50s...

I remember that Tommy Steele was criticised for 'stealing' two hit songs in a row from Guy Mitchell !

He was indignant at this suggestion & replied:

"We didn't copy the songs from Guy Mitchell, but from Marty Robbins !"

That made it all right, then...
