Well spotted, JimT !
It should actually be one of the happiest and proudest days of her life: Her incredibly talented son is received as a hero in his old hometown. A triumphant return for the Presley family, once considered "white trash"... But in fact, like on so many pictures from that time, she looks desperately unhappy, exhausted and very sickly...

Maybe I just forgot to "always look on the bright side of life".
But yeah, I totally forgot about that picture! I have to admit that when I saw it for the first time, it actually really surprised me. If one consider the pictures that are repeatedly shown in the media in connection with Gladys, maybe I was bound to get the apparently wrong impression that such happy moments were the exception rather than the rule...Who is online
