Oh oh. He didn't even have time to finish the sentence, but luckily fell on the submit button.

Aww, I really hope he is still with us. I guess it's a slim chance if he was a poorly man. :|

I have to agree John. He was very present on the forum and just stopped coming on. :|

Something odd about the Phoenix 'views' figures today [27th Dec 2023]:

Trivia Quiz Views - as at 27th Dec 2023.JPG

Those 'views' are way above what they are normally [which never get into 4 figures] !

Is there a glitch somewhere? They are high numbers. ;)

There's definitely something wrong somewhere. I noticed the same thing with other recent threads.

This afternoon I withdrew money from my bank account through a cash machine in the shopping mall.
Then I paid for my shoppings at the supermarket and ....... the € 50,00 banknote was rejected time after time.
I could prove I just had it from the cash machine and after a lot of trying, finally the bank note was accepted and I got my exchange money.
These days the girl behind the cash register does not have to figure out how much change you are gonna get as this is done automatically but.... the machine must accept the banknote you handed over.
It seems like when the banknote is covered with grease of some kind, the cash register does not "recognise" it as being real.

From the UK Newspaper 'i' - 8th January 2024:

The album peaked at No.1 in the UK Album Chart during a 38-week chart run.

And it would have been DB's birthday today, as it is the wonderful Shirley Bassey's.

I see Paula Vennells [artichect of the Post Office scandal] has said she's returning her CBE medal.

Recipients of the awards can 'return' the physical medal, but only an authorised committee [& ultimately the king] can actualy reverse the title.

Let's hope it is done soon.

Yup. I'd just signed the petition and forwarded it just as she resigned.

Icon of the Seas - Interior.JPG

"The world's largest cruise ship has set sail from Miami, Florida, on its maiden voyage, but there are concerns about the vessel's methane emissions.

The 365m-long (1,197 ft) Icon of the Seas has 20 decks and can house a maximum of 7,600 passengers. It is owned by Royal Caribbean Group."

What happened to masts & rigging ?

Is there a limit to how large these ships can get ?

They are hardly helping our efforts to clean up the planet.

They were made of wood ( conifer) I think. Imagine that now with thousands people on board. How times have changed.

Is there a limit to how large these ships can get ?
No I think they will keep getting bigger and ugglier.
They are hardly helping our efforts to clean up the planet.

It's ok for likes of money people ( stars) who tell us don't go on airplanes. We need to cleanse the planet. They do it all the time. :(
