It should be "50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong.
They also failed to credit Anita Steiman as one of the composers of "One Night."

That's a good spot on Steiman. I hadn't seen that one. I'm so used to the Bartholomew / King credits. To be fair, though, the Steiman name was not on the original labels, and it's only later that it got added.

Aside from the extended title of the album, there is also "Bartholemew", which should read "Bartholomew".

Edit - Looking at the original record labels for both this album and the "One Night" single, Dave's surname was misspelled too.

Asked the AI site 'Bard' about Barbara Stanwyck in Roustabout.

Some replies I got:

Bard - Roustabout [2].JPG
Bard - Roustabout [3].JPG

Did you spot the errors ?

Can AI really be trusted ?

Let's not forget, the intelligence is artificial, a bit like Donald Trump. Scrub that, his is non existent.

I spotted the references to the age difference. I did not check Barbara's birthdate, nor how much it cost to make Roustabout, nor how much it grossed, nor the date it was released, nor anything else. I don't want to spend the time on all of that.

Did you spot the errors ?

Can AI really be trusted ?

  • (1) The movie was not released in October but in November 1964. (see: https://catalog.afi.com/Catalog/moviedetails/18839#3)
  • (2) The question was how old Barbara Stanwyck was when Elvis made the movie, not how old she was when the movie was released. The movie was shot in March and April 1964, so she was 56 years old.
  • (3) Elvis was 29 years old at the time of filming and not 20, so the age difference was 27 years and not 37. The question is, why does the AI make the age difference an issue at all? Why is it interesting? And why should the chemistry between two people depend on the age difference? Maybe the AI is making the mistake of misinterpreting "leading lady" as a love interest?
  • (4) The figures for the budget and box office takings (in relation to what? USA, USA & Canada? Worldwide?) don't seem valid at all. On Wikipedia you can find the box office figure, which is backed up by a source (Variety, 5 January 1966 p 6): "$3,300,000 (US/Canada rentals)".
  • (5) The age difference in the second section is also incorrect (28 instead of 27).
  • (6) Barbara Stanwyck did not play a talent agent, but the owner of a carnival.
  • (7) I'm not sure if the critics were full of praise for Barbara Stanwyck's performance. Variety, for example, spoke of "wasted talent". I think the movie received rather mixed reviews overall.
  • (8) Whether the film boosted Barbara Stanwyck's career again is questionable. This will definitely not apply to her film career (no more big screen appearances after 1964). From 1965 on, however, she received much more attention again with her role in the TV series "The Big Valley".
  • (9) In the third section, there is suddenly a 30-year age difference between them?
  • (10) And no, she didn't play a nightclub owner either.
  • (11) Charlie Rodgers is a singer who happens to ride a motorcycle and not a (professional) motorcycle racer.

Just for fun I asked Colin's question to the bing.com chat AI: It initially tried to convince me that Barbara Stanwyck wasn't in the movie at all. Only when I pointed out that this is not correct and that she played a character called "Maggie" did the chatbot admit a "misinterpretation" of my question... ;)

Edit: Oh boy, I spotted an error in my own post...

Damn, now there's the ultimate prove: I really have too much time on my hands... But in my defense: Colin had to bait me with a question related to "Roustabout" of all things...

In your reply I think you got all the things I'd noticed !

It's worrying to think we'll be trusting AI with more & more things now, like our banking...

I forgive Joe a bit because of his age. Trump is just mad, and dangerous. I've always said that.

Charlotte Stewart reminisces about a conversation with Elvis:

More than one error there.

More than one error there.

The movie "Speedway" was not shot in 1963, but in 1967. Stewart, born in 1941, will probably have been in high school in the 50s and not in the 60s. Maybe a little too much cherry-picking, but: Stewart and Considine married in October 1965, I don't know if you can still call that "newylwed" in mid-1967 (according to wikipedia: "The time frame [...] varies, but for social science research purposes it may be considered as up to six months into the marriage").

Yes, & thanks for the pics !

Her part in the film was pretty fleeting !

There is one more error concerning Elvis & Gladys.
