That Parker was tireless in promoting Elvis' best interests, wasn't he ?

She is !

It's been suggested, as the song wasn't ideally suited to Elvis' style, that Dolly was mis-remembering the title,
& that the song involved was actually Coat of Many Colours !

That may have suited him better, but I can't see her making such an error...

Dolly is pretty forthright and comes across as extremely honest.

I personally like her a lot.

I have always enjoyed Dolly's recollection of why she dresses the way she does:

Elvis always recorded what he wanted and later it was up to the management or record company or music publisher to sort out the details.
There are quite a few songs that resulted from a jam session. I doubt they asked the composer(s) beforehand for permission to record it.
Apart from the movie songs, though several were translations from or based on foreign songs, a lot of what Elvis recorded had been recorded before by others.

I believe we all know that. It was the fact that the greedy old bastard Parker wanted a cut of the song.

Most of the songs that Elvis recorded were selected from the demos presented to him at the session.

It was his management who made sure that only the demos on which they'd secured part of the rights for ever reached him !

I've since read that the scheduled recording session was intended to include several of Dolly's songs.

Maybe she only 'remembers' the one: I Will Always Love You...

Did he or parker asked Billy Swan if he could record "I can help" or get a cut from it?
No.
Anyhow, it was recorded and released regardless.
I think Dolly Parton is jumping on the "since elvis is conveniently dead i have an interesting story to tell which makes me look cool and elvis look like an idiot"bandwagon.

At least elvis didn't appeared in her bath while she showered and sang a song and used the toilet while she was in the shower and after that whiped his butt with her towel like some other person claimed. Elvis was famous for doing things like that. He was always were comfortable in the presence of other entertainers.
That is if he had the time and wasn't trying to persuade Karen carpenter and petula clark or other striking beautiful women for a treesome or wasn't in london with some english singer who showed him around there.

Yes, Purity, I agree. Elvis, of course, did all of that in one week ;)

There is the story of the song, "Jolene". Dolly contradicted herself, the video below is years ago, then later, Dolly said that the song "Jolene" is not about anyone at all.

Of course people are interviewed or are entertaining, and they may misspeak; however, when there are contradictory statements, to me, (ie negative about Elvis or the like) then, (saying it nicely) I wonder about any statement made on Elvis by such person.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0eeSoU35wM

Good energy in the song.
