I wish this story would go away. It's just so boring. I'm glad Elvis never recorded it. It was fine for Whitney, but I don't think it was a good song for Elvis.

I agree John, I also think she's talking about the wrong song and also I really hope Priscilla never really told her Elvis sang this song to her on the way down the stairs after their divorce was final like Dolly claims being it wasn't released til 5 months later!
This story has almost become as tired to me as Linda Thompson's almost drowned in soup story..

Me too. What's more, I can't stand this song, or that other "Can't Live" song.

Gimme the good ole Irma Thomas days.

I got fed up with the song, but it was OK back then in Whitney's hands, or coming out of her throat. I like that other "Can't Live" song by Harry.

Irma's cool.

Me neither. The song is chocolate box cabaret Vegas rubbish.

It turns out she hasn't continued to always loved him....

'I'm sick of him and I'm sure he's sick of me': Dolly Parton discusses her 54-year marriage to Carl Thomas Dean as she admits her weaknesses are 'men, sex and food'

Whitney's rendition was amazing.

Well, the latest from Dolly is that Cilla told her that Elvis sang, "I Will Always Love You" on the steps of the court, to Cilla, as they parted ways, after their divorce.

I heard this a few days ago, and I'm laughing again, as I write, lol.

Was that just after Tom Jones had been with him in the toilet?

Look, it's not rocket science.

Elvis was in the shower & told Tom Jones [who happened to be there] about his recent divorce & Tom sang "I will always love you" !

Even more freakily it was before Dolly had even written the song.

Elvis apparently had a Dolly album in his collection. This had some Elvis connections on it in terms of musicians and the recording engineer.

Tom was in the limo, waiting for Cilla to leave court, he jumped out of the limo, and as a duet with Elvis, he and Elvis sang, "I will always love you ....." to Cilla.

Cilla and Tom then jumped into the Limo, while Tom filled Cilla in with the latest on his close friendship with Elvis, and how they were both in the bathroom together.

Cilla agreed that Elvis loves bathrooms, and that Elvis will ask Ginger to marry him, in the bathroom.

Yep, these things are as they are.

Same as Elvis, with Linda, admired Bruce Jenner's (beauty??) while Bruce was running in the Olympics at that time, and that Elvis stated, that Bruce was the best looking man (?) he had seen.

This is an interesting subject of which there are many parallels.

Elvis often did not use demo's he just heard the song on the radio, decided he liked it, and set out to record it.

Examples of that are ....Green green grass of home, Snowbird, Bridge over troubled water.... etc.

But if Elvis wanted to record a song, i think there are examples of him not getting publishing and he recorded it anyway.

(Help me here with my memory).....Is it so strange, Guitar man, I know there are more, but I can't remember them.

Now....If he liked a song and didn't make a studio record of it,.....he had the option of playing the song live right?

As he did with the Olivia newton John songs he did in concert. I bet he never got publishing on those. Maybe they did in advance, knowing
they were going to record a live album? ie...live in Memphis.

And lets say Elvis sang the Dolly songs in his shows...but RCA didn't record them, or release them,
then all we would potentially have is an audience recording of those songs, and he wouldn't have to pay publishing.

But now they are discovering soundboards, so Sony would have to pay to release those on an FTD.

And to take it a step further, Elvis decides to sing songs around the house, ie...home recordings on substandard equipment,
well then, he dies and RCA wants to release Mona Lisa, Dark Moon, and many others....well guess what, they have to pay
publishing....They don't have any bargaining tool since they are already recorded.

When Elvis was alive, the colonel knew he had that bargaining tool of....we just won't record it if you don't agree...
it was a way to get the artist to give up a piece of the pie. It was found to be very unethical to do this.
