Legendary, Memphis-born, rock and roll singer and songwriter Johnny Burnette died 60 years ago today, aged 30, due to an accident while fishing.

The Burnette Brothers were pretty unique characters, and it often showed in their music, which had lots of branches.

By the way, although I never got to meet him, I have a couple of Paul Burlison autographs in my collection.

About 35 years ago, I knew a friend of mine was going to meet him at some festival abroad, and I asked him to buy any Burnette Trio LP there, and get it signed.

The other one, about 20 years ago I was browsing through a box of used cds and stumbled upon an ultra-ragged copy of the BF R&R Trio cd. While examining it, I found it was signed by Burlison. I paid 2 or 3 euros for it. Lucky find. I don't have the cd here, but here's the LP :

I have a couple of Burnette brothers albums, along with a greatest hits of Johnny's pop hits. It's sad that they seem to be forgotten by most now.
I seem to always have to tell Rick Nelson fans about the Burnette's - Waitin' in School, Believe What You Say, It's Late, Just a Little Too Much, My One Desire.
