Ever since I first heard the double album "The Beatles Live! at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany; 1962" over 40 years ago. It's been one of my favourite Beatles records. There's even some people who think it's their best-ever record. Well, there's no doubt it's an amazing document.

Here's a fascinating 1973 BBC report on the legendary tape from which it was sourced. This material would eventually be released in 1977 :

"Twist And Shout" is one of my favourite tracks in that album. For my money, it beats the studio version, which seems to drag a little bit, as compared to the live performances, especially this one. Lennon is really on fire here. And dig the Bo Diddley reference at the beginning :
