Why does it always have to be ranking lists? Why not simply present these great singers alphabetically and leave those childish rankings to the readers, who will argue about it one way or the other...

Those RS folks should know that the Crudup song was named "That's All Right", not "That's All Right, Mama".

In the very early days, it was often referred to with the 'Mama' bit added !

When the original Bill Crudup song was re-released in early March 1949 it had the title "That's All Right, Mama"

It got lost on the Elvis version...

That's a myth that's perpetuated in some places, like Wikipedia, but it has nothing to do with history.

In short, the three earliest versions of the song, Arthur Crudup (originally released in 1947, and again in 1949, both on RCA Victor), Elvis (Sun, 1954), and Marty Robbins (Columbia, 1954), were released as "That's All Right".

I may have been led astray by Wikipedia regarding the wording of the Crudup release, but the fact remains that the song has often been referred to as "That's All Right, Mama" in the media !

Elvis himself once introduced it as "That's All Right, Little Mama" !

They can call it whatever they want, but the title of the song is "That's All Right".

No "Mama", no "Alright", no "Little Mama".
