Surviving rock and roll heroes

Jerry Lee's passing has made me think (again) about the dwindling list of original rock and roll heroes that are still with us. There's more names than most would suspect.

I have excluded teen idols and pop singers who recorded during the rock and roll era, but were not rock and roll artists. You know who they are.

So here's the list, in no particular order. I'm sure there are many more, and I'm thinking of obscure singers and musicians in doowop or rockabilly groups.
