It's been a quiet Sunday here, for me anyway, and as the evening draws in, chilly and drizzly, this popped up on Facebook, and the Sun came out to play.

I got the "Class Of '55" album as soon as it came out, in 1986 - an original America Records copy. To be honest, I did not expect it to be a mindblowing release, but it turned out to be worse than I thought. The only outstanding tracks, for me, were this opening Perkins song, and the following one, Jerry Lee's unexpected and lovely rendition of The Crests' "Sixteen Candles". The rest of the album was pretty uninspired, far from memorable, stuff.
Oh man, it's been 36 years since I got that LP. Jerry Lee was only 51 here. Holy crap.

I liked Big Train too.
Yes, "Big Train" is a great song, but I like John Fogerty's original, released the year before this album was cut. The way it appears here is a bit of a mess to me. Fogerty's original is just impeccable, so damn good.

Have you seen this? I have discovered it right after you started this thread. I have watched the first few minutes and it's ok. I don't like seeing Dick Clark, to be truthful.

Yes, Fogerty's version is great, but I prefer the Class of '55, maybe because it's the one I heard first. As for Dick Clark, I can ignore him in order to watch the subject matter.
