The great Buddy Holly would have been 85 years old today.

"Love Me" was one of the songs featured on Buddy's record debut in early 1956 on Decca Records.

The released version was cut in Nashville, but here's the much better demo recording done in Lubbock in late 1955.

This was first made available through an unofficial LP released by Cricket Records in the late 70s. It was officially released much later.

One of the best examples of non-Sun, pre-1956, rockabilly I've ever heard :

One of my all-time favourite records by anybody.

A masterpiece, that's all.

I have watched several documentasries in the "Classic Albums" series, including of course the one devoted to Elvis' debut album, and they're all excellent.

I've just discovered this one devored to The Crickets' first long player. Extremely well done too (although I'm afraid it's been uploaded with a wrong aspect ratio). Anyway, take a look ;

To be exact, the program was originally aired in July 2019, so it was presented in 16:9 format, but whoever uploaded it to YouTube seems to have cropped the image a little bit, because some subtitles are shown not complete or too near the bottom line.

Regarding the vintage footage they used for this program, it was probably presented in the correct aspect ratio when it was aired, but due to the slight cropping they've done, it's not complete.
