The ED SULLIVAN SHOW Appreciation Topic

Postby WalterHaleJnr » Sat Jun 20, 2020 4:51 am

The official YT channel , of late, has been posting individual videos, thick and fast.

Methinks it would be cool to have a topic dedicated to this.'

How about 'Love Child' by Diana Ross and the Supremes - For Starters :D

http://ctva.biz/US/MusicVariety/EdSullivan_03_(1950-51).htm

Found the above link which is a good resource to come back to whenever you want to read/research the music legends and actors and where each performance originates from. Also includes a summary (well , for the most part, it does!) of each episode.

So refering to the link we can see that Love Child was from 29 September 1968 on the very first show for Season #21.

James Brown - "Medley: Papa's Got A Brand New Bag & I Got You (I Feel Good)" performed on The Ed Sullivan Show May 1, 1966.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwUG6YDoTZ8

This is good to see but alas NOT the complete medley, however. Shame we never get to see this in full (maybe a copyright issue).
He did: Papa’s Bag/I Feel Good/Ain’t That a Groove/Man’s World/Please, Please.

Season 17. Ep.31 [832] The Ed Sullivan Show:

02-May-1965 CBS Sun
Guests:
Dusty Springfield

I've just read Dusty's biography. She went through some awful times after her career peaked, spent time in hospital, and her mental health was in a terrible state. She could have died much earlier than she did.
