Those 'earning' those sort of sums simply struck it lucky or are overpaid for what they do.

Or there is skullduggery or the stepping on toes involved. There might be some who did it fairly. Bill Gates? I don't know that he particularly struck it lucky. He had a vision for every desk to have a Windows computer on it, and he worked at it. He used his technical knowledge and surrounded himself by the right people.

It's not always about labour. I would also challenge the comparison with a labourer. You cannot compare physical effort with intellectual ability, without which, many labourers would not have jobs in the first place.
