Cold, cloudy and windy here. We had terrorist activity in a local park last night, 3 killed 3 injured.

It's Father's Day so I'll be having a picnic with my children and grandchildren soon, that's if it doesn't rain. We'll be keeping our distance from each other.

This is The Beach Boys' "Your Summer Dream", from the band's third album, "Surfer Girl" (Capitol, 1963). The song was co-written by Brian Wilson and his friend Bob Norberg. This is a remarkable recording in that it features a super-sparse musical arrangement, as compared to the increasingly complex arrangements Wilson was creating. It almost sounds like a demo. Also, The Beach Boys are often remembered for their vocal harmonies, but no other voice than Brian's is heard here. The stereo version features a double-tracked vocal by Brian, one voice each channel, but this is the mono mix (the way he mixed all his records, being deaf in one ear), and you can hear just one voice (and the fade is a bit longer). Close your eyes and begin to fly :

I've always liked Cliff's version. In fact I think I was aware of it before the Jerry Keller version.
