Today is May 1. International Labour Day.
But it is no day off from work here in The Netherlands, except for Government workers.
And although bank transfers are automatic, no bank transfer for rent and such on May 1. That happens on May 2 instead.
On May 5 we celebrate the end of the war, but only an official day off from work every 5 years, so next one is 2025.
Although this year it is on a sunday so a lot of people have a day off from work.
Thursday May 9 is Ascension and that is a day off, except for people working in shops as shops are open.
In Numansdorp on May 9 there is an open air Elvis Festival in the afternoon. Bands playing, classic cars being shown, stalls with rock androll and Elvis items, rock and roll hairdresser, et cetera.
But it is no day off from work here in The Netherlands, except for Government workers.
