40 greatest hits pink vinyl

Just before xmas i picked up a copy of the pink vinyl UK blue labelled double album 40 greatest.
I believe there was a black vinyl version as well and some copies contained a catalogue of his releases available in ‘78?
Now, on the rear of my cover it has a 2” or so gold letter C stamped on to it, similar in type to some of the “demonstration only not for sale” stamps you find on the rear of some promo lp’s.
I’ve seem a few others
On ebay with it but mostly without it.
Does anyone here know what it means, complimentary copy maybe?

I’ve seen a few with it on, but most without.
I trawled through ebay last week and found one other with the exact same stamped C

I never even knew about that, first time I've ever been made aware of it... never too old to learn something new.
I'd think it was 'complimentary' also.

Maybe the former owner of that copy was named Charlie, so he stamped a big C on all his stuff.

I've known people who does that, and a few second hand items in my collection bear written initials, not to mention signatures.
