"King Creole" EP Volume 2 - 1962 French reissue

Postby Mister Moon » Sun Aug 02, 2020 9:56 am

Just like in the USA, two "King Creole" EPs were issued in France in 1958. The song selection was the same as the originals, but the sleeves were different. Both used the non-reversed photo seen in the LP - one with blue background (Volume 1) and the other with green background (Volume 2). These EPs were reissued in late 1961 / early 1962 in the exact same configuration - the only difference were the reference numbers.

A few years ago, I came across a beautiful copy of the reissue of Volume 2. I just couldn't leave it there :

Some of the French releases had great artwork, fonts and layouts, they looked beautiful....
these were an exception and don't look attractive to me.

I like them better than the US or UK ones. I think it was very uncool to have Volume 1 issued with that reversed photo. Here we have the correct image, even though the background has been changed, but this lends an exotic touch, after so many years of seeing the original photo.

I had seen this record online, but when I saw it displayed at a record store, I knew I had to take it home.
