The impossible dream

Postby colonel snow » Mon May 06, 2019 10:07 am

The original version was recorded in 1965 by Richard Kiley for a musical. In 1966 Jack Jones recorded the first commercial version (Kapp KJB 60).
Another version was recorded on 18 november 1966 by Frank Sinatra for an album.

Here’s a rendition of ‘The Impossible’ by RK on the 1972 Tony Awards:

The song was written by Joe Darion and Mitch Leigh. It was performed live for the first time on October 30, 1965, during the preview of the opera Man of La Mancha by the character Don Quixote. Hence, the subtitle of the song: ‘The Quest’.
