Marie Knight recorded the original version of "Tell Me Why" (Wing, 1956).

I first knew the song from a 1957 single by Frankie Laine with Johnnie Ray.

It was a double-A-side release Good Evening Friends/Up Above My Head.

The two biggest stars from the Phillips label sang the Up Above My Head song as a duet.

This poor-quality clip is interesting in that they sing lines from their respective biggest hits before finally singing it.

The single flopped in the US, but scraped into the Top 30 in the UK.
