Recorded by Roger Douglass in 1962 and written for him by Buddy Kaye and Phil Springer. Available on the Elvis heard The Here First CD.

As this is my first comment on this board. Let me say to ALL the contributors what a great job you are doing in helping to keep ELVIS memory alive. Well done!!

In regard to Elvis' recording of Never Ending: in my humble and bias opinion it is better than the original. For me this is the case for most of the songs he covered. Its obvious that Elvis used the same or similar arrangement to the original but as in every Elvis song its Elvis voice that makes the difference. That's why he is The King. He could take a song cover it and make it better just by the mere fact that he is singing the lead vocal.

You're right in regard to Elvis' voice making the difference but in addition, I would say the musicianship is better, the production is better and arrangements have been improved on.

It wore out, nearly four years old.

Shades of a 'Gene Pitney' sound there.
