The original version was recorded in 1952 with the title "Day dah light" by Edric Connor & The Caribbeans (LP).
Other reordings:
Titled "Day-O" on 22-10-55 by Harry Belafonte (RCA 20-6771).
Actually, the Harry Belafonte single was entitled Banana Boat (Day-O) as seen on the label you posted.
