More on the Nedrick Young / Gene Kelly connection.

I did post this in 2017, and I'm afraid it went mostly unnoticed.

This is an excerpt from the third and last of a series of interesting articles published in 1960 by the "Ocala Star-Banner" on anti-communism, witch-hunting in Hollywood. This one deals with writer Nedrick Young :

The other rejected songs got a production number too:

Young hearts (Tepper-Bennett) - # 1719–X6 = track 2018

Oh my lied (David Hill) - # 1719–X7 = track 2025
This meant these songs were selected for recording but not used at the last moment.

Thank you, Colonel Snow, for those fascinating historical documents (the letters and added info as well). Much appreciated.

Young Hearts was recorded by Jim Reeves and released on RCA Victor (47-6973) in July 1957.

I'd have to check about the other songs you mentioned. Interesting stuff. Thanks.

"What Have Ya Got To Lose" was recorded in September 1957 by Sid King And The Five Strings for Columbia, and released shortly after as the b-side of their ninth and final single for the label :

Thanks Mr Moon and Suspicious minds for the great additions for What have ya got to loose - Young hearts; I already had it in my files. There are a lot of rejected songs in Elvis' movies and sometimes recorded later on by other artists. It's not my intention to mention all those recordings.
By the way Jim Reeves recorded Young hearts on 31 may 1957
