German poster

This German promotional entry for the 1963 MGM film It Happened at the World's Fair chose to forego the space needle imagery of the U.S. posters and focus squarely on the real drama of most any Elvis film — Ob blond, ob braun ("Whether blonde or brunette"). The watercolor-style graphic design is slightly ahead of the American market's sense of film artwork of the period, and presents a very post-war European take on the film icon's interaction with his leading ladies, co-stars Joan O'Brien and Yvonne Craig. Poster measures approximately 33 by 23 inches (83.82 x 58.42 cm).

Italian poster

It Happened at the World’s Fair was released in Italy in September 1963, where the movie was known as Bionde, Rosse, Brune…, loosely translated as “Blonde, Red, Brown,” likely for the hair colors of the women Elvis’ character falls for in the film. This oversized and elegantly framed Italian poster presents its own unique illustration of Elvis with co-star Yvonne Craig, for obvious promotional effect, with the art surrounded by several depictions of our hero beating the tar out of a few thugs. It’s an impressive, interesting and large example of European promotion. The entire display measures 58 by 42 inches (147.32 x 106.68 cm) and the poster measures 55 by 39 inches (139.7 x 99.06 cm).

French poster

The wonderful, two-color poster was created to promote Elvis Presley’s 1963 film It Happened at the World’s Fair in France under the title Blondes, Brunes et Rousses (“Blondes, Brunettes and Redheads”). While the French title missed capitalizing on the unique setting of the Seattle World’s Fair, it certainly captured the essence of any number of Elvis’ films of the era, and probably made a good deal of sense to his French fans. The metal plaque at the bottom of the frame reads “It Happened At The World’s Fair / France “Petit,” though technically the size is “affiche” not “petite,” as that would be a smaller poster size. The poster measures 32 by 23 inches (81.28 x 58.42 cm), and is framed to dimensions of 35 by 26 inches (88.9 x 66.04 cm).

1962 Bill Bullock 2-Page Letter to Colonel Parker Attempting to Renegotiate Terms for It Happened at the World’s Fair Soundtrack – From the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction

Source: http://auction.graceland.com/1962_Bill_ ... T2542.aspx

Colonel Parker was always looking for ways to improve the contracts with RCA to make more money. In this letter, the Colonel wants to make sure that the only photographs RCA receives are from him and at a cost of 20 cents per photo. The two-page typewritten confidential letter from Bill Bullock (Division Vice President Market Services and Business Affairs) to Colonel Parker, dated December 7, 1962 discusses in detail prices on the photo album for It Happened at the World’s Fair. Bullock proposes a deal contrary to what he and Colonel Parker had previously agreed upon. The Colonel responds at the bottom in handwritten blue ink, “If Bill Bullock calls - advise him we are not interested his proposal - only the deal I gave him on the phone - Thursday from the house - 20 cent copy folio 250,000 Guarantee - separate agreement on the folio payments.” The letter on RCA letterhead with an address of 155 E. 24th Street, New York 10, N.Y. is stamped “Confidential” and signed in blue ink “Bill.”

The original plan was to release LP LOC 2697 with extra photo's like Elvis Christmas Album:
original planning:
side 1 - One broken heart for sale - take 1
side 2 - Happy ending - take 9

both movie versions were replaced by the studio masters as the deal finally failed. The usual LP was released.
