August 28, 1956 - It is announced that they will make a movie version of the book instead of a Broadway play.
November 2, 1956 - It is announced that the book will be made into a Broadway play (a musical).
March 14, 1957 - Actor Bob Fosse is signed for a major role in the Broadway play.
