My wife received a trip to Memphis as a graduation present in the summer of 1965. Uncle Vester drove her around the property in the pink "Blue Hawaii" jeep. But Uncle Vester told her that Elvis was not home because he had to return to Hollywood to re-film the final scene of "Frankie and Johnny". He said that Johnny died in the final scene and they decided to change that. I don't remember ever seeing any documentation to confirm this.

I've never heard of that, either !

They re-shot the ending of Wild in the Country, but that was in 1960...

Thanks Colin,

I suspect that Uncle Vester had it wrong. Elvis may have went back to Hollywood to re-shoot a scene and he just assumed that it was the final scene.

Colonel, from the scan that you sent me, it looks like the verse above should be:

BRING ON YOUR RUBBER TIRED HEARSE
BRING ON YOUR RUBBER TIRED HACK
BRINGING MY JOHN TO THE GRAVEYARD
AND AIN'T GONNA BRING HIM BACK

Thanks Ed for the correction; it was hardly to read and besides the English language is not my native language.
