Girl Happy was basicly a rework from the movie ”Where the boys are” (1960) although with reversing the genders.
Joe Pasternak produced both movies. Music by George Stoll for both movies.

The movie “Where the boys are” is based on novel “Unholy spring = Where the boys are” by Glendon Swarthout.
17-06-60 – complete OK screenplay by George Wells (121 pages)

SONGS
Where the boys are – written by Howard Greenfield / music by Neil Sedaka;
Turn on the sunshine – written by Howard Greenfield / music by Neil Sedaka;
Have you met Miss Fandango – written by Stella Unger/ music by Victor Young.

It's a pity there's not much known about song selection - unused songspots - rejected songs.

Rejected songs
Lost summer love
Written by Dolores Fuller & Mark Barkan (Trousdale Music Inc) – copyright 27 august 1964
00-08-64 - recorded by Shelly Fabares (VeeJay V 632).

Cross my heart and hope to die (demo version Wayne – Weisman) is edited at the end / different ending.

I CAN’T EXPLAIN ABOUT LAST NIGHT
THOUGH THINGS DIDN’T LOOK JUST RIGHT
PLEASE BELIEVE ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG
I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU BABY ALL NIGHT LONG
CROSS MY HEART HOPE TO DIE
WELL I WOULDN’T TELL YOU NO LIE

You TALK ABOUT A PIECE OF ROTTEN LUCK
YOU DO A FRIEND A FAVOR AND YOU WIND UP STUCK
SHE COULDN’T HOLD A CANDLE TO YOU NO SIREE
VERY HARD TO HANDLE LIKE A MODEL T
CROSS MY HEART HOPE TO DIE
WELL I WOULDN’T TELL YOU NO LIE

PLEASE BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY
WILD HORSES COULDN’T DRAG ME AWAY
FROM YOU ’CAUSE I DON’T HAVE TO LOOK TOO HARD
TO SEE WHAT I GOT IN MY OWN BACKYARD
SO BE FORGIVIN’ AND FORGET
DON’T SAY MY ALIBI’S ALL WET
I MISS THOSE KISSES FROM YOUR HONEYCOMB
THIS HUMBLE BUMBLE BEE WANTS TO FLY ME BACK HOME
CROSS MY HEART HOPE TO DIE
WELL I WOULDN’T TELL YOU NO LIE
Oh baby I wouldn’t tell you no lie
No siree I couldn’t tell you no lie
No you know I like you baby
I couldn’t tell you no lie

Note:
track 2408-3 - Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce & track 2409-3 Starting tonight are different (another take number) comparing the scans on the site of Keith Flynn. Probably different edits made during the production of the movie. (see date on the acetates).

I'm not 100% sure but I think track 2409-3 Starting tonight is the same edit as RCA master.
2409 -1 is the unedited version; 2409-2 is nearly the same as RCA master but the track has guitar lines (see note Kevan Budd in a previous post). These guitar lines are not on the master.
