I can’t speak for Juan Luis but in the 80’s – 90’s a lot of “exclusive” tapes were offered in small advertisements in magazines like Goldmine. By trading I got sometimes unreleased tracks. Sometimes it was “crap”. Around 1991 I traded a tape with unreleased tracks from february 1976 sessions. A few months later most of these tracks were released on bootleg CD Elvis among friends.
And that’s exactly one of the reasons (bootlegging) most collectors keep the “treasures” hidden in their vaults.

I suppose it depends what type of person one is. If I had rare stuff, I would share it anyway I could. I certainly wouldn’t keep it to myself.
