Elvis On Fire In Toledo 1956 MRS Release

Postby PEP » Fri Apr 26, 2024 2:56 pm

Memphis Recording Service has a new release coming out in April 2024 which includes a unreleased recorded concert and interview from Toledo 1956

This I must say is certainly something unexpected and very cool to know they have done this !!

WOW. This sounds better than what I previously heard on YouTube. Amazing.

The interview is good but that's about all the rest is shit. IMO

Here is the same section from the MRS release for comparison purposes.
MRSDBC.wav

On the MRS there is much noise where Ron Ross was removed.

Sadly this isnt something I can enjoy.
I`m very picky when it comes to sound quality so I cant even
listen to the 1961 show and enjoy that.

I know my clapped out old ears aren't what they used to be, but this audio sounds awful !

Everything else is louder than his voice !

Your clapped out old ears haven't let you down in this instance.

The excitement is over the fact that we have a little bit of Elvis singing live in his prime. Fortunately we do have him singing these songs elsewhere in better quality.

For an audience recording from the fifties it is very good.

We have to make allowances for Ron Ross not having his iPhone with him that evening, or even a direct plug in link to the soundboard.

It was likely something similar to this.

Exactly. Soundquality is essential, no matter what, the material. Besides, what's the difference between this newly found tape and a unreleased soundboard tape from the 70s that has been in the vault for years? They are both unheard of, at the time of release. The Elvis of 1956 is still the same Elvis from 1974. So no interest at all in this release from MRS, which also has a bad smell about how this release came about. If so, no more MRS purchases for me in the future.

Yes, it would be acceptable if it had him uniquely singing Rock Around The Clock or Only You ...

'Unexpected'....maybe, but not in a good way.

I have no interest in the MRS title. They've made a right mess of the audio, but even if that wasn't the case, I cannot support what they've done here.
