Is there any reason I would need to buy this if I have the original release?

You don't of course need to buy it, however, as you may know the stereo masters were lost, so what you have on the original release are the mono masters.

These tracks have been given the mono to stereo treatment. The technology is now so advanced that you wouldn't know that these aren't the stereo masters.

Of course it all depends on whether you're a fan of stereo. I am, and I have to say that the mono to stereo songs that have already been done by Tony Stuchbury are amazing. You can now clearly hear things that you have never heard properly before.

I'm talking about the mono stereo stuff he has done, meaning that this technique is so far advanced and the results are quite stunning.

The accompanying blurb says these are the master takes 'in true living stereo' available for the first time.

No mention of re-processed stereo...

You can listen to sound samples below Colin.
They don’t sound like re-processed stereo to me, that was a late 60’s into the 70’s abomination.

I really like those songs from FTD. Catchy, happy, his voice was so good.

I would doubt MRS has located the 3-track stereo masters. Unless, they got ahold of the acetate with stereo version that was alleged to have been found recently.

More likely, as John noted, MRS used software to create stereo versions from the mono versions.

It's explained here. I take it to mean it's a mono-to-stereo conversion.

For the first time ever, the master tracks from the Elvis movie Follow That Dream (1961) are now available in true living stereo and have been mixed to the recordings that were originally conceived.

I was, of course, referring to the latest audio technology.

Although it isn't referred to as such, it is 're-processed stereo' albeit a million miles from the early version.

I'm still waiting, could be another week or two, but I'll post a review when I get it. What I did hear of the samples was very good.
