Because Of Love sounds like Jimmy Breedlove.

Thanks Mister Moon,

So that confirms the `Rocket ships` version of `Take me to the fair` is the one used on the CD.

A few nice tracks there.

colonel snow wrote:Take me to the fair was written by Fred Wise – Ben Weisman.
Most of the times P J Proby was used by Ben Weisman for cutting demo acetates.

According to Kevan Budd another version was written by Ruth Batchelor-Bob Roberts (demo with vocal P.J. Proby).
This version starts with the lyrics and can be found on the MGM acetate sc 2480-1 dated 24 august 1962:
"Potato Chips, Rocket Ships, Pony Tails and Mono Rails
Folks are just from everywhere
Oh Take Me, Take Me To The Fair”……………..

Both versions were rejected.
Elvis recorded on 22 september 1962 the version written by Tepper - Bennett 1962 titled “Take me to the fair # 2”.

When the CD is released we’ll know which version is included.

Comparing with the sound sample the version from the MGM acetate is released on the CD.

Where is Pappy
Probably selected for scene 183 but rejected in the pre-selection.

(Finally used for scene 183 Pappy won’t you please come home (Tepper-Bennett) – sung by Glenda Farrell).

From FECC -

Do we know whether Proby was singing demos for both the Batchelor / Roberts songwriting team and the Weisman / Wayne songwriting team at the same time? If he wasn't, I would hedge my bet that the version on the Proby CD was written by Batchelor / Roberts.

It's a very good point I had overlooked and may prove to be correct. I'm not aware of any other Proby demos from Weisman/Wayne for `Worlds fair` or before.

That convinces me even more that it's not Proby, but Jimmy Breedlove.

As far as I know it seems to be really P J Proby on the CD but let's wait until the CD is released.

The CD will credit Proby as the singer, but I'd bet Colin's hat and Javi's money, that it isn't.

From a reliable source I heard about Because of love sung by Jimmy Breedlove Yes / No.
Ruth Batchelor lived in Califiornia near P.J. Proby. In interviews P J Proby confirmed he sung ALL her demos. Why should she hire Jimmy Breedlove from New York to cut her demos?

Breedlove was used by Ben Weisman and Fred Wise when they both lived in New York.
When Ben Weisman moved to California he started songwriting with Sid Wayne and used West Coast demo singers for cutting demos.

Ruth Batchelor used the same demo singer as used on `Because of love` on at least 3 other demo's - the voice is identical.
Is it Jimmy Breedlove? - I can't say for certain at this time who it is, but it certainly isn't PJ Proby.

Ruth Bachelor songs that feature the same demo singer as `Because of love` -
1. Sweet lady love
2. Love is all I need
3. That's the way it goes

None of the above listed tracks feature PJ Proby on vocals.

In addition to this the `KIng of the whole wide world` demo also does NOT feature PJ Proby on vocals.

For which recording session / movie are these Ruth Batchelor demos submitted?

1. Sweet lady love
2. Love is all I need
3. That's the way it goes

Who are the co-writers?

How about "Thanks to the rolling sea"?

Because Of Love sounds like Jimmy Breedlove.

I contacted Bear family with our concerns and notice the track `Because of love` has moved from the opening track to the last track - at least on the website.
