My Way - Remix with Sinatra orchestra

Postby 2511 » Tue Oct 25, 2022 12:30 pm

Hi everyone,

Elvis version is my favorite version of My Way... But I always really enjoy the orchestral work of Sinatra big band.

So I take some few days to "destruct" each versions (instruments and vocals) and rebuild a new one. Not an easy task because rythme and key are totaly different, also some audio glitch is still there...

You can ear this new version on my Soundcloud :

Love this much better than the overblown live version.

I appreciate your work but I’m a purist. I’m not a fan of homemade / doctored tracks in one way or another. The same for tracks reworked by RCA / Sony or FTD.

I always come up with the Mona Lisa comparison:

It matters not a jot how many 'doctored' versions there are around...

Mona Lisa [Gioconda] by Leonardo Da Vinci.jpg

...the pristine original still hangs in the Louvre untouched !

Likewise the original Elvis audio recordings are still there for us to enjoy !

Yes, but the Mona Lisa is hugely overrated and can only be improved by sticking Elvis' face on it.

That's true, but the question is, can most of the people tell the difference between original and tampered tracks ?

As the great Lee Hazlewood once said, "I doubt it !".

It's good that they get to hear the tracks, tampered or original.

Once they get the urge to hear our boy, they'll dig deeper & soon find the 'pure' stuff...

Not bad at all, that's a fun listen! how did you manage to get the backing vocals removed?

I used the online service https://moises.ai/. There is many others like this...
With this you can separate vocals and instruments. You can also isolate drums ot bass.

But for my part I was not looking for a new arrangement just bring together to vision of this song. More to have the same orchestral feeling of An American Trilogy with the Royal Philharmonic.

After I use Logic pro to adapt speed and pitch to synchronyse all sentences to the Sinatra version.

I am a purist but still enjoyed this. There were nuances in Elvis' vocal which I had not noticed before and as someone who once made a career from video editing, I appreciate the amount of work gone in to this. However, I am one of those who prefers the 1977 CBS version of "My Way", the studio version is just a little too routine for me, as is Aloha. But this sounded good and was fun to listen to. Good stuff.

Thank you AndresVanKujik !!!

I use the vocal of Platinum - A Life in Music, it's my favorite version. The ending is so strong and emotional...
