"When It Rains It Pours" - the unheard bit

As you no doubt will remember, when the complete "When It Rains It Pours" Elvis Sun session was released for the first time on "A Boy From Tupelo" (FTD, 2012) we were told that a bit of studio dialogue had been edited out - what is described in Keith Flynn's site as an "offensive comment".

Has any of you folks heard that bit, and could you share what that bit is all about ?

You can answer via PM if you wish.

Colin will possibly send you a big fat check. Thanks.

Good question. We can only wonder at this point. Let's hope someone has the answer.

No, it wasn't included.

Right. Tulsa probably refers to the "too much vaseline" dialogue, originally placed before the incomplete alternate take of "I'll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin')". This was indeed made originally available via the "Good Rockin' Tonight" Bopcat albums (the VVAA original and the all-Elvis reissue), and later via several official releases including FTDs "A Boy From Tupelo".

Nobody seemed to have noticed, or care about, the "goddamn nigger" bit until the Legacy reissue of ABFT, where they left it out.

Absolutely laughable.

Yes, almost as laughable as the Rolling Stones cutting "Brown Sugar" from their set list after playing it for 50 years -- but keeping "Under My Thumb" and "Midnight Rambler" in the set list!

Wasn't some of Elvis ' musicians casually using the "N.-word"?
I think that what is what was offensive and edited out.
And that was imo also left out in the FTD version of "A boy from Tupelo", right?

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the dialogue with the "goddamn nigger" remark was left out of the reissue of "A Boy From Tupelo", but it's there in the FTD original, as well as in a zillion previous official releases, starting with "A Golden Celebration" (1984).

I didn't payed attention to the original release, I guess. Although owning it.(read your posting that way that it was edited out too on the original FTD release too).
when the complete "When It Rains It Pours" Elvis Sun session was released for the first time on "A Boy From Tupelo" (FTD, 2012) we were told that a bit of studio dialogue had been edited out

But I can understand why they left it out on a mainstream release some years ago.
Just one fuxxing journalist is all it needs to open a can of worms with that.
I understand why they left it out in these times.
Not that I was bothered with this remark when I read it somewhere.
It wasn't to be released in 1955 and it were different times.

Don't be sorry for being rude.
You are entitled to it if you wish so.

Nah, not rude at all.

Racists are rude, no doubt.

"Nigger" is just a word.
