Nobody took any photos ?
yeah, I thought about that too.
You would think that someone Elvis knew, had a kodak brownie camera,
and what an event for him this would be.
Not one single photo has surfaced?
very strange. in the 1950's people took pictures of everything.

Yes, I have seen those. But not one stage pic in all these years from that day? very strange.
And Ernst couldn't find one for his book either. One person had to have taken a photo of this sensation that
was getting encores.....

In reality, no one was particularly there to see Elvis, except for a select few who knew him like his family and Sam Phillips who were there to support him, he wasn't the headliner and no one had particularly heard of him or at least the majority of that audience. Sun 209 had only been out just over a month and only sold moderately in Memphis - it was later to sell well a couple of months down the line. So bearing all that in mind it's doubtful the audience were carry cameras, not even for its star headliner Slim Whitman who they were there to see. It just so happened that some one took a couple of photos of Elvis backstage not because it was "Elvis". No one would have predicted that there was going to be an encore to photograph.
That said, there "may" have been another photo taken but we aren't to know unless one turns up.
But don't get to thinking that the world's paparazzi was there in the hundreds photographing Elvis' encore.

No, but a person like Dixie locke or even Sam phillips, or didn't his parents have a cheap camera by then.
I have collected general family photographs for a couple of decades and one thing I can tell you is
that American's loved to take pictures of anything. A summer concert in Memphis in the 50's would have been
one of those places. I mean, just a year later we have color motion pictures at an outdoor venue.
I bet someone did take a picture, they are hoarding it like it's the holy grail.
Has anyone asked Dixie if she took a picture.
The one thing that frustrates me is how under documented Elvis was in his whole career, even long after he became a big star.
And yet we get thousands of stills on an event that was filmed professionally anyway....ie. that's the way it is.

I asked that a couple of days ago, and TonyS replied. Scroll back Steve.

Could that be true the headliner refused to go on, because of Elvis?
Was he just inflating the myth a little there?

No one knew he would get that reaction and no one really knew who he was I doubt anyone took his picture. I dont think there are any pictures at all from this concert.

I think people did know who he was, since the phones lite up when they played the record weeks earlier, and many people that first
month bought that record. and I would guess a picture will one day turn up.
