Incorrect, some are not.

I didnt bother buying this but read that many mono mixes is fakes, like you guys said.
Also they didnt even bother to fade in and out fake songs properly so they would match the real mono masters

Correct.

The promo was mono.

Getting back to this.
Any chance you can provide the intro and outro from the mono promo for us to hear?
Thanks.

Which tracks are fakes?

I'm not going to go through them all, I just wanted to put up a few examples to make people aware, especially as others elsewhere have been asking again.

I may come back to 'Steamroller Blues' , but I'd hate for anyone one to think I'm getting worked up about it.

I can tell you 100% though that 'Memories' on the set is a stereo fold down, and not an original mono master from any country. ;)

Memories on the set is the correct single mix as released in the U.S.

What is your proof? I just posted a video with the single mono mix.

I had absolutely nothing to do with it. I have just heard the original singles.

And you can't hear the different audio eq profile of a stereo fold down compared an original mono mix?
I'll get back to you on this, I'm a bit busy on another audio project at the moment. ;)

it's the mix that is important.
If you fold down the stereo mix it won't sound anything like the original mono mix. The strings are much higher in the mono single mix and the box set does contain the original mono mix. It's definitely not folded from stereo.

That depends on which stereo version you choose to fold down, and how you adjust the balance and EQ before folding it down. ;)

You'll have to compress the living daylight out of it as well. The mono mix is much more compressed than any of the stereo mixes.

There's automatically an element of compression when you fold it down anyway, it's not that difficult to recreate a mono master from stereo master and fold it down, that's just what they did, the audio profile is there to hear.
They should have done a needle drop from an original 45, like they did with 'My Boy'.

Oh I'm not worked up, I'm just keeping it real.
And if I was getting worked up, I'd say I've noticed people getting worked up about things that are much older than 2016. :)

DarylR wrote:TonyS,

That is definitely not the original 45 RPM single mono mix of "Memories" as you presented in your original post. The original 45 single did not feature the canned applause at the beginning and end of the track. The original soundtrack album, though, did feature canned applause at the beginning and end of "Memories," which is also in mono. Furthermore, if you listen to the album version with the canned applause, you can hear a bass drum note at the very end that isn't heard on the mono 45 single....

Well, it was a needle drop, and here it is.
The original 'mono' master with canned applause.

Hello TonyS,

The U.S. version of the 45 single did not feature the canned applause. But if memory serves me correct, the pairing of the U.K. single was "If I Can Dream" / "Memories" whereas in the U.S., the two songs from the TV Special were split up between two different singles. "If I Can Dream" / "Edge Of Reality" and "Memories" / "Charro."

If I'm understanding you correctly, the U.K. version of the "Memories" single featured the canned applause whereas the U.S. version didn't?

Daryl
