Two outstanding performances near the end

Postby athletic_forever » Wed Mar 25, 2020 5:18 pm

These are two of my favorite Elvis live performances, both belonging to the material CBS filmed for the Elvis In Concert TV Special.

They both send shivers down my spine every single time I listen to or watch them.

I hope you love them as much as I do!

One appears to be Unchained Melody and the other one Hurt. Neither of them play.

Yes, John, you’re totally right! I must confess I thought I have solved this problem of how to put YouTube links here... but fact is I haven’t!

Both videos have this links:

...with all of my respect and love for "Our Man and his Music"...please forget all the >Live Performances from early 1976 till 1977< ...it was unprofessional for an "Elvis Presley Superstar", sorry to write...but his Job was to sing and give "a damn good show for the audience", a lot of all was vocally failed throughout, sad but true. Peace&Love Matt...btw Buddy, i respect your favorite songs from June 1977 ;)

Yes, John, I do need training, and it will be really appreciated!

Picturefan, just a couple of comments to your answer: first I do believe any opinion should be respected, so please I beg for some respect for my opinion, the fact that you do not agree is only proof that you cannot please everyone! Now, who said that? Oh, yes, some guy called Elvis Presley in 1956!

And second, I didn’t say these are my two favorite Elvis performances, but two of my favorite. In fact TTWII to me is outstanding all over, and two of my other favorite are his performance of Hound dog from the Milton Berle show in 1956 AND his performance of If I Can Dream from 1968!

I’ll understand anyone saying they don’t like these two that I love from 1977, or anyone saying he looked awful here. To me they are vocally superb and show that when he wanted, Elvis could make marvellous things right to the end, even as bad physically as he was!

I never, never, understood why any sane person would qualify anything from the CBS shows as "two of my favorite performances" or state "they send shivers down my spine every single time I watch them" ...

What the CBS tapes show us, is a very sick man. A man who's dying. A man who is completely out of touch with reality, completely out of touch with himself. A man who has become a caricature of himself and who looks even worse than the most horrible jumpsuiting Elvis imitator you've ever seen. A man who has no strength left and who has clearly given up on life.

Watching Elvis like this, sends shivers down your spine???
Seeing Elvis in that terrible state sends tears down my face.

I do too, and I just gave you my opinion. Thanks for respecting it!
