It's Marianne Hill's own voice heard on the soundtrack.

Oh, well, not good. Perhaps they should have dubbed in another voice, but if I was the director,
I would say, not a big deal in this case, the movie wasn't a masterpiece to begin with.

House of Sand is one of his worst.
Scratch my back is not much better, and that duet voice is terrible.

The best song of the movie was cut...."Sand castles"....by 1965,
they just didn't know how to make an Elvis movie.

We all know after 1962/1963 no really good Elvis' movies were produced. Cheap low budget movies based on an especially written script/ screenplay for Elvis with a lot of songs - girls etc. If you're lucky some good songs were included for a scene but this poor concept was used for those years 1962-1969.

Astonishingly detailed information, Colonel Snow, as ever !

As an Elvis film, PHS has virtually no merit, no purpose. Yet, for many older Elvis fans, there can still be a nostalgic (audio) element for even the weaker songs. I must confess, though, that the sequence of "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" scenes are cringeworthy, not helped by the lousy dialogue; and the semi-military outfit Elvis wears throughout the film is awful.

Oh, I don't know, thanks to the presence of the delectable Marianna Hill, the scene was quite easy-on-the-eye:

Quite so.

You've just reminded me that she deserves a place in the Surviving Elvis Co-stars thread !

Man, this is bad. Song and lyrics.
Somehow I wished I had never learned english and were still able to ignore the lyrics.
PHS is imo the worst elvis movie ever ( also not a good print used on the dvd, pretty washed out colours and not great sharpness), elvis is even more bored than in clambake, if that's possible. Pretty chubby and the awful outfit does him nor favours ( maybe he should have worn the gypsy suit even here, it wouldn't have mattered). The leading ladies are also very bland. And the story is the most boring from all his movies imo.
This is the movie I can stand the least from elvis.
