FTD Total Cost - 20 years

Postby foreverelvis » Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:36 am

FTD started in the summer of 1999.
In the 20 years since then I’ve bought all FTD CDs and all but 1 FTD book. I’ve not bought the FTD vinyl.

My 20 yr total is; (prices in CDN)

$10,612.94
245 Months, 20.4 years, 183 items
$910.90
20 items (Tunzi, MRS & other items)

Total; $11,523.84 for 203 items
Averages;
$564 per year
$47 per month
$56 per item

What’s your total on this 20th anniversary?

A special thanks to Claude Baker who made it all possible. Hope you’re listening to all the music you ever dreamed of buddy.

I’m glad I’ve not noticed the money I spend through the years for Elvis’ music: LP’s including expensive Japanese vinyl – CD’s – bootleg LP/CD’s – DVD’s – books - movie scripts and other rareties.
On the other hand I got a lot by exchange with other collectors and I’ve sold a lot what’s “worthless” in my opinion. And it’s still goin’ on.

It soon mounts up that's for sure.

I'm too frightened to add up how much i've spent over the years...not just Elvis but other artists too.

I'm pretty sure i could buy my house flat out in one payment.

It's scary. I couldn't even begin to add it all up, but buying every release LP, CD and then sometimes again to replace them, every VHS, DVD, going to the cinema originally, books, sheet music, etc, etc, I could have bought my house a few times over.

My collection is similar - no FTD vinyl, but all the CD's & most of the books.

I daren't tally up the total cost...

You probably couldn't even begin to. How much was an LP in 1958, 1960, 1962......

How much were singles and how many did you buy?

Elvis Monthlies and the annuals, all the visits to the cinema......

It's scary.

I probably could have bought Graceland.

The only way I have been able to afford my Elvis items is I am always upgrading, selling off items, (many times at a profit), to finance newer things I want. I go thru my collection every few years and decide what is essential to keep and what I could sell off.

For me it's about the various musical performances, not the variants of different covers.
ie. I dont' want to buy the same music over and over if I can help it.

I am now in the process of re-buying all of his movies in blu ray format, and selling off the DVD counterpart.

Years ago I sold off my vinyl except for a handful of albums that I find just cool to have.

I hope you haven’t misunderstood.
As FTD is 20 years old now I thought I’d post what I’ve spent on FTD and a few other items. This doesn’t include my vinyl collection of LPs, EP’s and singles or the hundreds of non-FTD CDs, DVD, Blu-ray, books and mags. That is impossible to figure out.

I understood your post [hence my answer re FTDs].

Not sure that others did...

I'm pretty sure we did, we just expanded the conversation a bit, as you do.

I did. I just thought it was a bit of fun to go further.

Just FTDs alone, they wouldn't have bought my house but they would have bought me some nice new furniture for it. Lol
