As these are sales since 2004, this must mean that it becomes another overall UK Million seller for Elvis? If so, it would be interesting to see an updated list of the Top Ten selling Elvis UK singles. And how many have moved unceremoniously over 1 Million total...there must be several, and several more moving close.

According to the OCC who do the count, Can't Help Falling in Love sold something over 780,000 by Aug 2017 but more recently the BPI credited the song with selling 400,000 since 2004. It seems unlikely that it had sold less than 380,000 since original release up to 2004, so there must be a lot of ambiguity with these numbers. It's the same with Suspicious Minds... OCC said that by Aug 2017 it had sold 640,000 but it has just been awarded platinum status for sales of 600,000 since 2004. It's hard to make sense of. Also, in 2017 the OCC said that Jailhouse Rock had sold 985,000; it must be over a million by now, so why has nobody raised a glass of Bollinger to it passing the milestone? Is anybody looking at these things?

What's so special about 2004 ?

An award for sales should surely cover all of them from the original release date + re-issues to date...

Originally introduced in 1973, more than 14,000 awards have been issued to date during their illustrious 40 year history.

Platinum, Gold and Silver awards adorn the homes of some of the biggest names in recorded music. The growth of digital formats saw a la carte singles and album downloads become eligible from 2004 onwards, while the first Music DVD certification was awarded in 2005. In July 2013 'auto-certification' was introduced to allocate certifications to titles as soon as they passed the relevant sales thresholds, although member companies can still, in some circumstances, certify titles manually based on shipments.
As of July 2014 streaming data from audio services (as measured by the Official Charts) counts towards certifications for singles, with album streaming included from March 2015.

I have a list of the estimated sales of Elvis' UK physical singles, but it's inaccurate, only partial & the figures have not been updated since 2002 !

But anyway:

Jailhouse Rock = 850,000

Can't Help Falling in Love = 650,000

Suspicious Minds = 400,000

Not much use really...
