a very interesting find. This song was also recorded by Shakin Stevens in the 80's. There is a very interesting song conjuntion between Shaky and Elvis. In 1981 Shakin Stevens released his album "Shaky". On side 2 you'll find the song "This time" written by Chips Moman. I love this song from Shaky. In 1981 nobodys knows that Elvis tried this song during the 69 recording session. For the first time we hear Elvis "This time / I can't stop loving you" on the "essential 60 masters set" released in 1993 ! Shaky also recorded "Fire down below" for the "now listen" album.

The Drifters recorded this song in late 1961 (October 26) under the title "She Never Talked To Me That Way", but it wasn't released until 1972 :

You're welcome.

So this was scheduled for the October 15-16 session ? This one produced another Pomus/Shuman song, "Night Rider". Interesting that The Drifters' version was done only ten days later.

Thanks John for the addition; it's not my intention to add other and more versions recorded later on because that's out of my interest.
Some rejected songs are covered by other artists many times. There are sites like https://secondhandsongs.com/ to discover these other versions.
