Lonely avenue
The song was written by Doc Pomus and recorded in september 1956 by Ray Charles (Atlantic 1108.
The other side of the single is “Leave my woman alone” written by Ray Charles.
Doc Pomus claimed in april 1986 that one of his songs “Lonely Avenue” was recorded by Elvis and stayed unreleased. I’ve no information when the song was tried out in a recording session in the early 60’s.

The song was written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. Registered at BMI – Elvis Presley Music.
The demo couldn’t be used for the movie Speedway because in 1962 an album with the same title was released.

Update to an old post (I can't find the original post here but it doesn't matter for me - probably posted before the forum started in 2015.)

According to a scan of a letter in the booklet from The Complete 50's Masters Steve Sholes sent on 24 august 1956 a demo record to Elvis with this song. However it was not recorded by Elvis.
The song was written by Johnny Cash and recorded by him around november 1955 but the song was never released.
Other recordings:
05-02-56 - Warren Smith (Sun 239);
25-04-56 – Johnny Carroll & his Hot Rocks (Decca 29940);
00-05-56 – Dave Burton (RCA 47-6535).

The original version was recorded by Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra in 1938 (Victor 26012).

It was co-written by Bickley "Bix" Reichner, who many years later would co-write "I Need Your Love Tonight".
