Songs by T- Bone Walker (Elvis LP Raised on rock)

Postby colonel snow » Tue Aug 30, 2016 6:14 pm

The LP "Very rare" by T-Bone Walker was recorded late 1972 / early 1973 and finished around june 1973.
Side 3 contain: Three corn patches (2) / Just a little bit (4);
Side 4 contains: If you don't com back (2).
The backing vocals on these three tracks are The Sweet Inspirations.
The connection with the Elvis' recordings from july 1973 is clear.

Here scan from the labels.

Interesting. So Elvis could have had this album, maybe? I like Elvis' recordings, but you can't help thinking that if he'd recorded them 2-3 years earlier, he would have made a better job of them and could have put together a meaningful R&B album.

Yes !

Elvis had some interesting material at those July, '73 sessions, but sleep-walks through the songs like recording them was a contractual obligation !

When he came back in the December, his performances were much better.

Pity he couldn't have re-recorded the earlier stuff !
